Mullet Koi Fish
Each koi fish represents one of the three natural elements: water, air, and earth. For this exhibition at the Tikotin Museum, which explores the connection between Japan and Israel, I chose to use watercolor painting, a technique deeply associated with Japan. The first painting features a koi fish, symbolizing beauty, tranquility, and inner peace in Japanese culture. It also represents wisdom and the harnessing of inner strength. The second painting, representing Israel, depicts a sunbird, symbolizing the air and the deep connection between the land and the sky, reflecting Israel’s unique natural phenomena. The third painting shows an iris flower in yellow and purple, symbolizing the earth. In Japanese culture, the iris signifies the start of spring, renewal, and growth, and represents the connection between people and nature.
